We are holding a very special ICA Members’ View on Thursday 2 August, 7-9pm at the Great Eastern Street Car Park, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3ER. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by 27th July to reserve a space for you and a guest.
This pop-up exhibition is an exciting collaboration with BMW and London 2012 Festival which brings the BMW Art Car Collection to the UK for the first time. The ICA is working with emerging names in design from the east end to create a unique project, including Julia, Loop.pH and My Beautiful City.
And, today at 12:30, ICA Members are also invited to a free preview screening of Eames – The Architect and The Painter, a striking documentary which takes a detailed look at American designer Charles Eames.
See you there!
Throughout the exhibition Remote Control, the ICA’s Lower Gallery is temporarily reconstructed as a symbolic archive of material – both audio-visual and physical – that looks at mapping the structure of information dissemination and offers a possible prehistory to the networked environment of today. Within this newly commissioned installation designed by Berlin-based artist Simon Denny, the artist has brought together a matrix of ideas surrounding alternative approaches to media, spatial distribution and ecology, as well as conceived a platform for displaying a selection of video works from the past 40 years.
Art collective Am Nuden Da perform a live reading in the bar as part of the Publish and Be Damned self-publishing fair taking place here on 17 March. Assistant Curator at the Hayward Gallery, Richard H.M. Parry writes about Session 20 Propositions, their previous series of events that took place last summer.
