Interview with Paul Bush

Babeldom, Paul Bush, 2011
With his debut feature film Babeldom opening in the ICA Cinemas from Friday, plus a programme of his short films and a Q&A with the director himself on Sunday, we are pleased to present this contextualising interview with experimental filmmaker Paul Bush. In an edited extract from The Animate Book, Bush talks to Mike Sperlinger of LUX, discussing the filmmakers that have inspired him, his fine art background and the definition of his eclectic practice.
This Week at the ICA
We had an excellent weekend at the ICA with Publish And Be Damned this Saturday. Over 3,000 visitors attended, and I was delighted to see the ICA abuzz with enthusiasts for artist publications and imprints.
Looking ahead, here are my top picks from this week’s events:
January to March Programme
We’ve finished confirming our new season of events to tie in with the Juergen Teller: Woo! exhibition up until the end of March, and you can preview our seasonal events guide above or download the PDF here.
Juergen Teller Preview
Juergen Teller, from the series Irene im Wald, 2012
Please join us on Tuesday 22 January from 7pm until 9pm for the preview of our next exhibition, Juergen Teller: Woo!
Considered one of the most important photographers of his generation, Juergen Teller is one of a few artists who has been able to operate successfully both in the art world and the world of commercial photography. The exhibition features a wide range of work, from some of his landmark fashion photography of the 90s, to more recent landscapes and family portraits.
We hope to see you there!
